New course: Traditional canoeing

This summer we are going to run a traditional canoe course. This means that we will use traditional canoes made of wood and canvas. With these traditional canoes we will learn the basics of canoeing so you will have good foundation when you advance in your canoeing skills. There will be plenty of time to test your new skills when we will go on a journey to discover the nearby lake.

There will be more to the canoeing then just paddling on our journey on the lakes we will also learn to set up a camp with classical baker tents. Baker tent is a roomy tent made of cotton that gives camp life a new perspective compares to stay in a modern plastic tent.

The canoes gives us the opportunity to bring equipment we would not be able to do otherwise, that is why we are going to cook with dutch ovens so we can cook delicious meals.

For this course we will work together with Bo Weslien, a canoemaker, master craftsmen and co author of the book Skogsliv.

This course will be held at the Sjövik Folkschool in the southern part of Dalarna in Sweden. It only takes about 1,5h to get here from Stockholm making it easy for anyone travelling from abroad.

Price: 7000 Sek
Included in the price is all the food, loan of canoe, paddles, pfd, tents.
